Communities display

The display tool will be implemented in selected geographical locations. In this way, different geographical communities will:

  • Establish (near) real-time monitoring of local energy consumption and climate impact and communicate this directly to the target groups;
  • Will empower the target groups with tools for commitment and actions to reduce energy consumption and climate impact;
  • Enable benchmarking against other areas as an extra competitive element in the motivation process.

Selected geographical areas for implementation are:

  • Ipswich Borough (implementation in three parishes)
  • Stavanger municipality (implementation for the whole community – 117.000 inhabitants)
  • Vaxjo town (implementation for the whole community)

Each of the partners that are running a geographical area will carry out the following activities.

1. Select carbon system boundaries for the geographical area
2. Set up a system for collection of (real-time) input data
3. Apply the climate barometer tool from WP A2
4. Establish and operate the (electronic) interface
5. Establish system for transnational benchmarking together with the other partners
6. Implement appropriate "Support for reduction" tools from WP A3
7. Benchmark results and exchange experiences

The activities are closely coordinated by the WPA package leader. However, implementations may vary between the geographical areas, based on complexity and system delimitation's. The transfer of experience from the climate barometer implementation and the carbon reduction tool implementation ensure a collective learning, development and communication process between the partners.
