Schools Display page

A pilot scheme will take place at selected schools across 3 partner countries. The display tool will be developed that will monitor and exhibit, in real-time, the energy and greenhouse gas emission and impact (footprint) of that particular area. The display will:

  • Establish (near) real-time monitoring of their own energy consumption and climate impact and communicate this directly to the pupils;

  • Will empower the schools with tools for commitment and actions to reduce energy consumption and climate impact;

  • Enable benchmarking between schools as an extra competitive element for improved performance.

The school areas are:

  • Norfolk - will implement the displays in 5 selected secondary schools

  • Suffolk - will implement the display in 1 selected secondary school

  • Norway - will implement the displays in 4 selected secondary schools

  • Sweden - will implement the displays in 4 selected secondary schools

Each of the partners that are running a school implementation will carry out the following activities:

1. Select the carbon system boundaries for the selected schools
2. Set up a system for collection of (real-time) input data
3. Apply the climate barometer tool
4. Establish and operate the (electronic) interface
5. Establish system for inter-school benchmarking
6. Implement appropriate "Support for reduction" tools
7. Benchmark results and exchange experiences

The activities are closely coordinated by the work package leader. However, implementations may vary somewhat between the schools, based on complexity and system delimitation's. The transfer of experience from the climate barometer implementation and the carbon reduction tool implementation ensure a collective learning, development and communication process between the partners.
