Suffolk Carbon Reduction Loan Scheme

An Interest Free Loan to assist Suffolk communities with the initial costs of carbon reduction.

 1.      Who can Apply? [1] [2]

The loans are available to (almost) anyone!  Any individual/ organisation applying must meet NWES’ Financial Criteria (i.e. demonstrate the financial capacity to repay the loan) – so that the money may be reused.  Whilst we have tried to make the loans available as widely as possible, unfortunately organisations with more than 250 employees are not eligible.

2.      What can loans be spent on? [3]

The only restriction is that funding must go on work within Suffolk that delivers demonstrable carbon savings. Loans will be paid directly to the installer/ supplier (i.e. the applicant will not receive any finance directly).

  • Approved Products [3]

Products should be off an approved list. There are currently two approved schemes:

MCS and Energy Saving Trust

  • Approved Installers [3]

Loans used to fund any proportion of installation should be installed by an approved installer.

Lists of approved products & installers are available from www.answerproject.eu/Loan.

3.      How to apply & Loan Details

To apply for a loan call NWES: 0845 4918 735 or email advance@nwes.org.uk.

5.      Background

The Carbon Reduction Loan Scheme is part of the ANSWER Project (www.answerproject.eu), and has been co-funded by ERDF through the Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme and Suffolk County Council’s CRF.  SCC manages the fund, with NWES administering the loans.

If you have any questions about the administration of the loan, please email ned.harrison@suffolk.gov.uk

[ 1] Specific financial restrictions apply to schools – please contact Paul Bonello (see above)

[ 2] NWES are not eligible for the loan.

[ 3] These criteria are flexible. Requests for loans that exceed these thresholds, or are for items not on the pre-approved list will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
