Follow up for ANSWER

12 May 2011

As the ANSWER project has almost come to an end,  we are thinking of (a) follow up project(s) for ANSWER. CARBONET was raised as one of the project ideas.

What is CARBO-NET?

CARBO-NET stands for “The South North Sea NETwork for Low CARBOn Business Development”. The programme will promote the low carbon economy of the regions involved, benefitting the low carbon offer of the whole South North Sea area.

There is great potential to benefit both the economy and the sustainability of the regions that cooperate through this network. It is widely recognised that all sectors can develop aspects of the low carbon economy; this could be food production with reduced artificial growing inputs and food miles; the production of recyclable packaging; green building design, construction and installation; sustainable travel modes, renewable and nuclear industry, and the tourism industry. The network will target those sectors where intervention is considered to be potentially most productive.

This cross border network will link businesses between countries on service, product and market development within sectors, and broadly within the framework of a low carbon economy. These businesses will benefit from a “carbon dating” network which builds upon “known partners” with highly developed business sectors. Cooperation between Suffolk, Norfolk, West and East Flanders, and other partners presents an ideal opportunity for cooperation on the development of the low carbon economy. This network will support sme’s in the long process of launching low carbon products and services into European markets and will bring together businesses, universities, Chambers of Commerce, Development Agencies, local authorities and other partners.

Partner search

Iain Dunnett from Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has started a partner search, aiming at applying for the 2 Seas call in July already. All interested ANSWER partners and new potential partners (from UK, FR, NL, BE) can contact Iain Dunnett (iain@suffolkchamber.co.uk or 0044 1473 680 600).

CARBONET project preparation (12.30 PM-5.00 PM) on 12th of May

In order to find synergies between the interested partners' work and finetune the project proposal, a preparation meeting is organized on 12th May in Ostend. All interested ANSWER partners and new potential partners (from UK, FR, NL, BE) will be brought together to discuss this proposal.
