On the 3rd of March, about 15 businesses or organizations subscribed the West-Flanders sustainability charter for the first time. They committed to do some efforts during the next year in terms of the 10 themes of sustainability as defined within the charter: being sustainable people management, open internal and external communication, emergency procedures, sustainable purchase, prevention of waste, energy use, water use, sustainable mobility and transport, …
Since energy is one of these 10 topics of the sustainability charter to deliver some results, this event was the ideal moment to launch ANSWER’s green business network: www.greenbusinessnetwork.eu! Businesses share their best energy practices in order to inspire other businesses! All together over 50 cases from Flanders in BE, Suffolk in UK, Bremen in GER and Växjö in SWE (the ANSWER partner regions) are online on this google map application.
This online energy platform could be a source of inspiration for defining their energy actions for the upcoming year. On the other hand some businesses already had some nice results from past energy actions which might inspire other businesses.
The use and benefits of this green business network was demonstrated to the 100 representatives. Furthermore, a call to action was made to upload their energy related stories. People were able to test the website on site and they all received a bookmark with the url.
This was a coorganization of POM WF, VOKA WF and Bureau Veritas, with ANSWER’s support. Host was 4AD music club, also subscriber to the charter but already a strong believer in sustainability.
