In February 2010, POM East Flanders and VeGHO organized two successful sessions on EN 16001 in the Ghent Harbour. The initiative was well received amongst the companies and certainly worth repeating.
This Autumn, POM East Flanders and InterWaas joined forces to organize yet another session on energy management. This took place on November 22 and 29 in Sint-Niklaas.
This time, companies from the "Waasland region" in East Flanders participated in the sessions.
A theoretical and practical workshop was again guided by energy expert Gert Hendrickx from Vinçotte Academy and Esset.
The program for the two sessions included:
Part 1: EN 16001 and ISO 50001
- European normation
- Basic principles
- Milestones in EN16001
- Relationship to existing management systems
- Metering
Part 2: practical case study
- Energy analysis
- Setting targets, objectives and KPI's
- Setting up a monitoring plan
The sessions were again an enormous succes: DP World Antwerp already made the engagement to obtain the EN 16001 certificate by december 2011!
The other companies indicated to certainly incorporate the structural approach to energy management into their organization. Who knows - in time - more certificates to come.
