Jacob Bailey get first Carbon Charter

Jacob Bailey Ltd, who trade under the Jacob Bailey, White Space Design and PR brands, have become the first company in Suffolk to be recognised by the Suffolk Carbon Charter.

The Charter allows businesses to be recognised for the work they are doing to reduce their energy consumption. It has been developed by the Environment Agency and Suffolk County Council, with support from the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce.

Following an independent audit, Jacob Bailey were successfully awarded the Silver Charter, which shows that they have developed an action plan and made significant efforts to reduce their carbon emissions. This accreditation lasts for one year.

Jacob Bailey’s Chief Executive said: “To fight climate change as a business you first need buy-in from all of your staff which we are fortunate to have across the entire Jacob Bailey group.

“Everyone at Jacob Bailey was delighted that their joint efforts and hard work helped the group achieve ISO14001 accreditation, so being awarded this recognition from the Carbon Charter has helped to strengthen the company’s ongoing commitment to the environment”.

Cllr. Judy Terry welcomed the new Charter as a valuable support for local businesses, saying: "The challenge of Climate Change is something that we all need to take into account – whether we’re at home or at work.  This Charter will allow businesses to show their customers and staff that they are playing their part in creating the Greenest County whilst also making savings.

Jacob Bailey receive the Charter from Cllr Terry (Suffolk County Council) and Jonathan Thompson (Environment Agency)

“Unlike many available environmental charters, this scheme is aimed primarily at small businesses, and its requirements reflect the business’ size and current circumstances.  This means that Carbon Charter accreditation is a realistic goal for any Suffolk business”.
