Capturing the Entrepreneurial Spirit looks at how small- and medium- sized businesses can be supported to reduce their environmental impact, bringing benefits to the environment, their community and the bottom line. The report presents findings based on active research in 4 countries as part of ANSWER and investigates the strengths and issues in a range of approaches, including networks, clubs charters and awards.
"After the weak result of the (Copenhagen) global climate conference concrete and binding
actions are even more decisive… Moreover we all are asked – as individuals, as
consumers or as employees and employers – to assume responsibility for the environment
and the climate, so that we can face the future's challenges."
Dr Reinhard Loske, Senator for Environment, Bremen
The report is aimed at policy makers and is of particular interest to those developing business-engagement strategies in their own regions. It looks at a range of existing initiatives, and the role they can play in a coherent package of support. This picture is then developed through the experiences of working with businesses through ANSWER to develop an environment in which they are enabled to take the lead.
