The Development Agency of West-Flanders (POM West-Flanders) organized 3 successful informative business events on small and medium sized windturbines (SWT & MSWT), together with POM East-Flanders, the West-Flanders division of Business Agency and POVLT (West-Flanders research center for agriculture, farmers).
The release of a Flemish guideline for establishing a municipal policy on the installation of SWT in April 2009 had resulted in a strong need for information aimed at businesses. As well as this recent policy, financial feasibility, support systems and the state of the technology, some local wind initiatives were presented, including POM West-Flanders’ plans of examining existing big windturbine cooperatives for businesses within the ANSWER framework. Furthermore, 8 SWT suppliers took the opportunity to demonstrate their products to some 400 visitors (over the 3 events)!!!
These events were a real success and might be reorganized in 2010 (as local municipal policies have been developed further)!
