Interreg IVB North Sea Programme

The ANSWER project submitted a bid under the North Sea Region Programme which works with regional development projects around the North Sea.

Promoting transnational cooperation, the Programme aims to make the region a better place to live, work and invest in.

There are 4 priorities of funding:

  1. Building on our capacity for innovation
  2. Promoting the sustainable management of our environment
  3. Improving the Accessibility of places in the NSR
  4. Promoting sustainable and competitive communities.

ANSWER comes under priority 4.

A Partner in Depth: POM West Flanders

From time to time, we will meet one of our partners in greater depth. Here, we're pleased to say Dag! to Eline D'hooge from POM West Flanders, in Belgium (www.pomwvl.be).

POM West Flanders (POM WF) is the regional development agency, with a mission to enhance the socio-econiomic development of the province of West Flanders.  That covers everything from infrastructure to CSR, sustainability to innovation.  That makes them perfect partners to lead on ANSWER's work to develop a package of measures that can support SMEs and benefit the environment.

A Partner in Depth: Växjö Kommun

From time to time, we will meet one of our partners in greater depth. Here, we're pleased to say Hejsan to Emilia Nordgren from Växjö Kommun, in southern Sweden (www.vaxjo.se).

Växjö are the newest member of our partnership, having only joined officially in June 2009, when an extra funding opportunity emerged. However, they're old hands at promoting the green message. Växjö is renowned as "The Greenest City in Europe" and have reduced their per capita CO2 emissions by a staggering 35% since 1993.

Växjö are contributing a lot to ANSWER, delivering pilot projects for their schools, community members and businesses. Like all of our partners they have some things to teach us, and some things to learn.
