Joint grid connection for wind turbines in Zeebrugge

The Seaport of Bruges (Zeebrugge) is a very favourable area to install wind turbines. Some of the terminal companies located in the south of the seaport already have specific plans to invest in wind energy in the near future. Instead of all investing separately in a cable connection to the local grid, port authority MBZ and POM WF have paid for a feasibility study to examine the advantages of a joint grid connection. You can read the most important outcomes of this study here.

Energy monitoring offers opportunities for joint purchases

POM East Flanders and Interwaas want to explore the possibilities for a joint purchase of energy monitoring devices.

In Autumn 2010, POM East Flanders and Interwaas organized a succesful edition of the training on energy management (EN 16001). Following this training, the idea grew to offer the companies in the Waasland region the possibility of joining a group purchase or rent of energy monitoring devices. In June 2011, the consultants of Grontmij [http://www.grontmij.be] were assigned to assist both POM and Interwaas in this process. In the fall of 2011, the first informative sessions will be organized for interested companies.

POM East Flanders has decided to apply for a BREEAM [http://www.breeam.org/] industrial building certificate. An external consultant, BOPRO [http://www.bopro.be/nl/index.asp], was assigned to assist POM East Flanders and the architect in obtaining the certificate.
